Comments:These cute self-closing triangular boxes do not have a separate lid and base. The whole structure of each box is formed from a single sheet of paper.

Double-sided paper works best. Paper with a pattern on one side and a solid color on the reverse is especially effective, as shown here, where the top of each box is indicated by two bands of solid color.

To open one of these boxes, gently squeeze the two top points toward each other. The box will snap open with a satisfying little pop! To close again, restore the two solid-color bands to their original position.

This method of opening and closing will work best if you use a type of origami paper which is a bit thicker/stiffer than most. Fortunately, many double-sided papers have the stiffness needed to produce a good pop.

Opened boxes can be flattened for easy storage, as shown in the "nested" view at left.
