Comments: | Shown here are three examples of what Tomoko Fuse calls Flowery Plates -- although I think they look more like bowls or dishes. All three of these bowls were made by following the instructions/diagrams in Tomoko's book, but then I tweaked her design a bit for the big bowl on the left side of the photo and the small bowl at the top. After assembling the big bowl on the left side of the photo, I curled back the tips of the petals. After assembling the small bowl, I squeezed all four sides to make the petals stand straight up at right angles to the floor of the bowl, and then I pinched a pleat at each of the four corners in order to hold the petals in a more upright position. This creates a container with a squarer shape and steeper sides. These plates/bowls are practical as well as pretty. Use them to serve snacks at a party, or as a substitute for an Easter basket. Although double-sided paper works best for this model, single-sided paper may also be used. None of the reverse side of the paper is revealed inside the container and only a small amount of the reverse side appears on the outside of the plate/bowl. |
