Comments: | Shown here are three examples of my variation on an origami model which Tomoko Fuse calls a Flowery Plate. After making the model according to the instructions/diagrams in Tomoko's book, I squeezed all four sides of the Flowery Plate to make its petals stand straight up at right angles to the floor of the container. Finally, I pinched a pleat at each of the four corners of the model in order to hold the petals in a more upright position. My variation produces a boxy container with a squarer shape and steeper sides than Tomoko's original Flowery Plate. This type of container is practical as well as pretty. Use it to serve snacks at a party, or as a substitute for an Easter basket. Although double-sided paper works best for this model, single-sided paper may also be used. None of the reverse side of the paper is revealed on the inside of the container, and only a small amount of the reverse side of the paper will appear on the outside. |
