Comments: | Two different styles of flower-shaped boxes are shown here. Although they look complicated, they are actually not very difficult to make. The only slightly tricky part is the final step in which the two-dimensional model is opened up and shaped to become a three-dimensional box. The two boxes in the bottom row are Tomoko Fuse's Flower Box B. The two boxes in the upper row are her Flower Box A. The size of the finished box can be varied by using a larger or smaller sheet of paper; in addition, the height (depth) of this model can be adjusted somewhat during the last step in the folding process. It is possible to make a very shallow container, a much deeper one, or something in between. Changes in depth are accomplished by either pinching up, or flattening down, a square-ish shape on the under side of the model. These delightful boxes are perfect as party favors or just to give someone special a sweet surprise. I like to present one filled with candy to my mother on Mother's Day, but they also work well for Valentine's Day or any happy occasion. |
