Comments: | These cute little boxes are based on a crease pattern by Phillip Chapman-Bell which I found on the web. These self-closing boxes do not have a separate lid and base. Made from a single sheet of paper, they close with a twist and open by gently pulling the twist apart. The original diagram, which could be printed on letter-size paper, has green areas which form a picture of a shamrock on top of the box when it is closed. Opening the box reveals a Guinness logo inside. I made some of these shamrock boxes for St. Patrick's Day, but I also wanted similar boxes with an Easter theme, so I modified the diagram. I removed everything but the crease lines and shrank the diagram to fit a 15 cm square sheet of origami paper. The crease pattern has scalloped edges which must be cut with a scissors, which some origami purists may find objectionable, but I love these little boxes -- so much fun to make and to give away! |
