Comments: | The boxes shown here were made from the best design I have found to date for an origami box with a hinged lid. Over the past few years, I have tried out many different designs for hinged-lid boxes, but most of them were disappointing because the lids did not close properly or did not stay closed. The design used here is problem-free. The hinges are not bulky and the hinge mechanism is neatly hidden. Thanks to these fine hinges, the lid closes precisely over the inner liner placed in the bottom of the box. Even when using smooth paper, as here, there Is just enough friction between the lid and liner to insure that the lid stays firmly closed until someone wants to see what's inside. Boxes of this type are sturdy enough to hold small jewelry gifts like earrings or bracelets -- or you could fill them with candies and use them as party favors. |
