Comments:The rotund bowls shown here are very challenging to fold. Numerous pre-creases must be made very precisely to achieve the faceted effect which makes these bowls so elegant and interesting.

Using double-sided paper is highly recommended for this model because so much of the reverse side of the paper is revealed -- not just inside the bowl but also on the outside aroung the rim.

Here I have chosen paper with a kaleidoscope pattern on one side and a solid color on the reverse. Three different kaleidescope patterns are featured.

This particular brand of origami paper is a bit thicker/stiffer than most origami paper. I find that somewhat stiffer paper works better for Jade's Bowl than thin or soft paper, as long as the stiffer paper will still take a crease cleanly.

By placing a battery-operated votive candle inside this type of bowl, you can create a beautiful lantern. Its faceted surfaces will scatter the candle's light in a very attractive manner -- but never use real candles in paper lanterns due to fire hazard.
